New Co-Editor-in-Chief of Praxis-Knowledge

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Aaron J. French is now the Co-Editor-in-Chief of RENSEP’s journal Praxis-Knowledge. Aaron has already been actively involved at RENSEP, overseeing blog submissions, as well as editing and proofreading research articles in Praxis-Knowledge.

Fitting to the global perspective of RENSEP, Aaron is a historian of global intellectual history and the history of knowledge. He has worked extensively on topics such as esotericism and its relationship to modern science, philosophy, politics, and art. In his PhD dissertation, Max Weber, Rudolf Steiner, and Modern Western Esotericism: A Transcultural Approach, he compared Max Weber and Rudolf Steiner with regard to the influence of esotericism on their thinking, as well as their interest in Eastern philosophy.

His work is interdisciplinary in many ways and brings together perspectives from the history of religions, intellectual history, the history of science, science and technology studies, sociology, and the study of esotericism. This interdisciplinary approach resonates strongly with RENSEP’s aim to overcome disciplinary boundaries and to approach esoteric practices and experiences through multiple methodological perspectives.

Some of his work also engages with esoteric practices and forms of practical knowledge, particularly through his research on Anthroposophical pedagogy, architecture, as well as the intersections between esotericism and art, which is relevant to the praxeological orientation of Praxis-Knowledge.

We are therefore very pleased to welcome Aaron as Co-Editor-in-Chief of Praxis-Knowledge. We look forward to his continued contribution to the development of the journal and to RENSEP’s broader mission of fostering a rigorous, open-ended, interdisciplinary, and globally oriented study of esoteric practices and experiences.
